There's nothing quite like traditional Southern comfort food. French cut green beans smothered in a creamy mushroom sauce and generously topped with crispy French-fried onions create an awesome side dish for any meal. Seriously, y'all. Just another one of life's simple Southern pleasures.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Saute green beans on high heat for 5-8 minutes. Remove from the heat and set aside. Saute onions and mushrooms for 10-12 minutes over high heat. When onions are translucent, add the beans, mushroom consommé powder, imitation sour cream, 1 cup of french fried onions, salt, and pepper, and mix until well combined. Spoon the bean mixture into your favorite casserole dish (I prefer a shallow dish, but to each their own), top with remaining 1 1/4 cup french fried onions, and bake for 20-30 minutes, or until top is firm.
